To make this recipe Vegan, we can replace paneer with tofu, and the rest of the step will be the same. For making these oven-baked paneer sticks, use fresh paneer that should not be very soft or firm. You can keep the spiciness according to your taste and replace them with the spices of your choice if you want. They can also be baked in an air fryer. For a richer taste can do deep-fry but the calories will be increased.

There is no cooking required to make this recipe. Even kids can participate in the making of this yummy paneer fingers and have fun with baking process.

Besan

Spices

Cornflakes crumb

Oregano

Maggi masala

Step by step preparation of Baked spicy paneer sticks

1. Preheat oven at 200 degrees celsius for about 10-12 minutes. Sprinkle some cornmeal on a baking tray and put it aside.

2. Cut paneer into long stips of 2-3 inches. Keep them aside.

3. Take a bowl, add besan, salt and heeng to it. Add water and make a thin batter. Put it aside.

4. Transfer cornflakes crumb to a plate. Add salt, oregano, Maggi masala, red chilli powder, roasted cumin seeds powder. Mix well. 

5. Now in the besan batter, add oil and mix well.

6. Dip paneer strips into the besan mixture one by one and then coat with crumb mixture. Place them on the baking tray leaving little space between them. Repeat with the rest of the paneer pieces.

7. Place the tray in the preheated oven and grill them for about 15-17 minutes. Donot forget to turn them in between and bake until they get a nice golden colour.

8. Take it out from the oven. At this point, these are very soft in texture. Leave them on the baking tray for 2-3 minutes and then serve warm with green chutney.

  3. For a Vegan recipe, replace paneer with tofu.
  4. You can also replace cornflakes crumbs with bread crumbs, rice flakes crumbs, oats flakes or even ground daliya powder.
  5. As paneer sticks are very soft after taking out from the oven, leave them on the baking for 2-3 minutes and then serve.
  6. You can also deep fry them but the calories increases.
