About oats and jowar cookies

These are eggless cookies. To give a rise both baking powder and baking soda are used. Before using a rising agent we should always check their expiry date, old or expired baking powder or baking soda didn’t give a perfect rise to the cookies.

The dough should be wet and sticky but if the dough seems to be dry add a little milk to it. Refrigerate the dough for at least half an hour before baking gives a nice and even spread to the cookies.

Bake them for 15-17 minutes at 170 degrees C or 350 degrees F until the corner becomes golden in colour. But if you want them crisper, bake them 2-3 minutes more.

As kids like chocolate very much, I decorated them with some dark chocolate chocolate chips. You can also add a flavour of your choice like cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg etc or can add chopped nuts to give crunchy bites to the cookies.

These cookies are crispy in texture with a light brown colour due to the caramelization of jaggery powder.
