To prepare this delicious mango kalakand we need only four ingredients and it is ready within 15-20 minutes only. To avoid adding more sugar choose ripe and sweet mangoes for this recipe as natural sugar is not processed and easy to digest in our body. Also, we did’t use mawa or condensed milk to prepare this sweet dish.

I didn’t add any colour or preservative to make this recipe. If you want it a brighter or deep yellow colour can add a little food-grade yellow colour but I suggest avoiding any artificial colouring when possible.
To keep it low in fat content I, used homemade low-fat paneer. First, I crumbled it and then add to the mango puree. Paneer adds a grainy texture to this sweet. The mango kalakand is just melt in mouth sweet recipe.

Mango Kalakand Sweet Ingredients
Mango– used ripe bright yellow coloured mango which gives the natural colour and sweetness to the recipe.
Milk powder– Gives a binding and keeps the soft melt-in-mouth texture. If milk powder is not handy can replace it with khoa or mawa.
Paneer– homemade low-fat paneer is used. It provides a grainy texture to the kalakand. Can also use market bought paneer but add little milk in the recipe as it is little dry in texture.
Sugar– Helps in setting the kalakand and for providing sweet taste.
Cardamom powder and chopped nuts– enhance flavour and make it more attractive and nutritious.

How to store homemade mango kalakand?
Mango kalakand is a milk based sweet so we can’t keep them at room temperature specially in summers when temperature is very high. Put them in an air tight container and refrigerate them. They stay good for a week when store in the refrigerator.
Step by step preparation of mango kalakand without using mawa or condensed milk
- Wash, peel and cut mango into smaller pieces. Grind it in a grinder jar to make a smooth puree. Now transfer it to a bowl and keep aside.
2. Grease a small cake tin,pie dish or a plate and put it aside.
3. Now put a sauce pan on a medium heat and transfer mango puree. Add crushed or grated paneer to it.
4.Mix well and cook it for 3-4 minutes till the mixture starts thickens a little bit. Add sugar and cardamom powder into it and cook till all the water evaporates.
5. Now add milk powder and mix well. Cook the mixture further till it becomes very thick and start leaving the pan.
6. Now transfer this mixture to the greased plate and spread evenly. Garnish with some chopped nuts and pista and press gently. Let it cool for 3-4 hours.
7. Mango kalakand is ready, cut it into desired shape and serve. ENJOY! Left over kalakand can be stored in the refrigerator.

Tips and Tricks
- Use well ripe mangoes for a nice colour and more natural sweetness.
- I have used low fat homemade paneer for this recipe but if you are in a hurry you can use market bought too. But add little milk in the recipe if using market bought paneer as they have a dry texture. You can grate the paneer or crumble it before cooking.
- I have used sugar but you can also use condensed milk instead.
- You can easily doubled or tripled the recipe according to your need.
- For the best taste serve them chilled.
