You can find a number of recipes online for making Methi Laddu(ladoo) at home, but give my recipe a try – it’s simple, easy, and requires very little time to prepare. This Methi ladoo recipe is a diabetic-friendly sweet, also work wonder for people with joint pain. These are best enjoyed as a healthy snack or after meal dessert mainly in the winter season.

How to Make Methi Ladoo at Home

As all of you know that methi has a naturally bitter taste, and most of us do not like to eat it due to its bitter taste. In this post, I am going to share the secret of reducing the bitter taste of methi seeds and tells you how to make delicious methi ladoo at home without using refined white sugar.

To prepare these methi ladoo, firstly, we dry roast methi seeds and make a fine powder and then soak it in the milk for few hours. After that, we roast the soaked methi powder and whole wheat flour in the ghee and finally add coconut powder, melted jaggery and mix them well. Now take some mixture and give them a nice round shape to make ladoos out of this. These super tasty methi ke ladoo are ready without any bitterness. Try them out this winter and enjoy with your friends and family.

If you want, you can also prepare easily methi pak or methi burfi from this mixture. For that, after mixing gur syrup to the dry mixture spread the mixture immediately in a greased plate or thali and press it nicely. Let it set for few hours and then cut into desire shape.

Important note * The step of soaking methi seeds in the milk for a few hours helps in reducing the bitterness of the methi seeds and also cut down the roasting time of methi powder in ghee. Milk also provides moisture to the mixture therefore the amount of ghee is also reduced.

Soaking of methi seeds in milk

1. Firstly, dry roast the methi seeds in a pan over low flame for 5-7 minutes. Then let it cool down and grind into a fine powder in a grinder jar. Next, transfer the methi powder to a bowl and add enough cold milk to mix it well, cover it and keep aside for 5-6 hours or best overnight.

2. The next day, methi powder becomes hard and dry after soaking all the milk. With the help of a spoon, break it into small chunks. Now heat around 100 gm ghee in a kadhai and add soaked methi powder chunks. Roast methi powder in the ghee on low flame around 12-15 minutes until its color changes to brown and become soft. Transfer it into a big vessel.

3. After this, keep 2 tbsp ghee and add the rest of the ghee in the kadhai, add whole wheat flour and roast it for around 15-18 minutes till it becomes well roasted and changes its color.

4. Off the flame, add dry coconut powder and mix it with warm whole wheat flour and stir for 1-2 minutes in it to remove the raw smell of it. Now transfer this mixture into the same vessels with methi powder.

5. Now add 2 tbsp ghee and jaggery pieces in the kadhai and wait till it melts. Switch off the gas and add dry ginger powder and mix. Finally, add roasted methi powder and whole wheat flour mixture in it and mix well with jaggery syrup. This step is done quickly because after cooling, jaggery syrup becomes hard and forms crystals; its become difficult to shape in ladoos form.

6. Now make ladoo in the shape of small balls out of it, repeat the process till the mixture finish, and let the ladoo cool completely. Then store them in an airtight container. They stay best for a month.
