Learn how to make jau sattu (barley sattu) at home with simple step by step process. A healthy, budget-friendly summer superfood perfect for drinks, lassi, and weight management.
Roast for 8–10 minutes while stirring continuously.
Roast until it turns light golden and you hear slight crackling sounds. Ensure even roasting on low heat.
🔸 Step 2: Cool Completely
Turn off the heat and let the roasted barley cool completely. Grinding hot barley can create moisture and lumps
🔸 Step 3: Grind
Add the cooled barley to a mixer grinder in batches and grind into a fine powder.
Sieve the ground mixture using a fine strainer.
Re-grind the coarse particles and sieve again.
Repeat the process to get a smooth, fine texture.
🔸 Step 5: Final Roasting (Important)
Lightly roast the sattu powder again on low flame for 2–3 minutes. This removes any moisture left and increases shelf life of homemade jau sattu powder.
🔸 Step 6: Store
Let the sattu cool completely and store in an airtight container. It stays fresh for up to 2–3 months at room temperature.
