Here, I am sharing a quick and easy recipe of dry coconut peanut chutney that needs only a few ingredients which are mostly available at home.
Coconut gives a creamy texture, nutty taste by peanuts, and tadka with curry leaves enhance the flavor of this delicious peanut coconut chutney. It is gluten-free, vegan, and diabetic friendly too.
This Indian style coconut peanut chutney for idli & dosa is made just in 5 minutes. Transfer all the ingredients to the grinder jar and grind it. You can add less or more water according to the consistency of the chutney you want to keep.
Some people like very thin and watery type but I like a little thick and coarse kind of consistency. So you can adjust the consistency according to your taste.

How to Make Dry Cocont Peanut Chutney-Step by Step Preparation
1. In a grinder jar, add small pieces of dry coconut, whole red chili, dry roasted peanuts, salt, and jeera powder.
2. Add a little water and grind it. Then add the rest of the water and grind it again till it changes into a coarse paste like consistency.
3. Transfer it into a bowl.
4. For preparing tadka, heat oil in a small pan. Add heeng, small mustard seeds(rai), and a few curry leave. Saute them for few seconds and then switch off the flame. Add this hot tadka to the chutney.
Serving Suggestions
This quick coconut peanut chutney is very nutritious, rich in good fats and proteins, and thus increases the nutrient value of your meal. Tips and Tricks
- Dry coconut can be replaced with fresh coconut.
- We can add curd instead of water that gives it a more creamy flavor and texture.
- Keep the consistency a bit coarse that gives it a crunchy texture.
- If you do not have peanuts in hand then roasted chana or chana dal can be used.
- Tadka should be skipped if you do not like it but I highly recommend it as it enhances the flavor and gives a very nice aroma to the chutney.

For making Coconut peanut chutney
- 25 gm Coconut
- 10 gm Peanut
- 1 Whole dry red chili
- ¼ tsp Salt
- ¼ tsp Dry roasted jeera powder
- 100 ml Water
For Tadka
- 1 tsp Oil
- ¼ tsp Rai (small mustard seeds)
- 1 pinch Heeng
- Few curry leaves
