When we roast besan in ghee its aroma is spread throughout the home, even neighbours asked what are making today at home. Ghee and dry fruits give a rich taste and flavour to this sweet.
The proper way of roasting besan is very important to make a delicious sweet from it. While roasting we should keep the flame low and stir continuously otherwise it may burn and ruin the taste of the sweet dish.
Overall, it is an easy and quick recipe the only thing is you need to stand it nearby for the whole time and stir it continuously to avoid any burning.

Besan ka Halwa Recipe Ingredients
Besan– it is the key ingredient and gives a unique taste to the halwa. Don’t use the thin version of besan for making halwa.
Ghee– desi ghee gives the perfect richness and taste but to make it vegan can use coconut oil, groundnut oil or sesame oil.
Sugar– use desi khand here to make it healthy. you can also try it with jaggery or jaggery powder.
Cardamom powder– adds flavour and aroma to the recipe.
Nuts and dry fruits – add crunchy bites and improve the taste.
How to Make Besan ka Halwa at Home-Step by Step Guide
1.First, add 1 tbsp hot milk in 1 tbsp ghee and mix till the ghee is melt.
2. Now in a bowl, take 120 gm besan. Add this ghee milk mixture to it, mix nicely. It will form a crumb like texture. Press the mixture gently and cover the bowl. Leave it aside for half an hour.
3. After half an hour, put a strainer on another bowl and sieve the besan mixture by pressing it with spoon till it all sieved.
4. Now heat 80 gm ghee in a pan and transfer the sieved besan to it. Roast it on low flame till it becomes light brown in colour and start leaving ghee.
5. Then add 60 gm malai and mix well with the roasted besan. Cook it for 1-2 minutes and then add 2 cup boiled water to it.
6. Mix quickly so no lumps formed and cook it till all the water is absorbed.
7. Now add desi khand and cardamom powder and mix well together.
8. Cook the mixture till khand is well dissolved and the mixture start leaving the pan.
9. Add some chopped nuts and mix well again.
10. Switch off the flame. Serve besan halwa in a plate and garnish with chopped dry fruits. Besan halwa is ready to serve.

- Add enough liquid to avoid dryness. Generally we add double the amount of liquid than besan quantity. Means if we are taking ½ katori besan then take 1 katori water for it. For a thin consistency add little more water.
- Sugar quantity can be adjusted according to your tatse buds.
